Artist Biography
Born in Paris, France. She currently lives and works between Paris and NY.
She obtained her BFA/DNAP in design from the Ecole des Beaux Arts of Reims, receiving Honors of the Jury in 2013. In 2015 she went on to graduate from the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD) with a Master's in Industrial Design (MID). Likewise to a designer trapped into an artist’s soul at RISD her thesis revolved around sculptural handblown glass hydroponic systems tailored for urban interiors. To merge art and environmental data research she studied Urban Sustainability Studies at Brown University.
Influenced by her bi-cultural upbringing Mado seamlessly intertwines the human form with its environment. The intricate root systems and the mysterious ecosystems of coral underworlds not only serve as primary inspirations for her paintings but also symbolize the deep connection issues between humanity and the natural world.
Mado's artworks delve into the intimate and sensual, often tinged with hints of eroticism. They captivate viewers with their compelling mix of beauty, awareness, and truth. Mado paints with a poetic brushstroke which can sometimes be a praise to love ans=d other times chaos. With watercolors, Chinese inks and pigments her creations resonate with cultural and social themes, exploring the nuances of human desires, nature and relationships. Her work plays with nature’s beauty and eroticism with much intimacy.
In addition to her art practice, Mado has an extensive design background, having crafted interiors for clients such as Ritz Carlton, Four Seasons, De Gournay, Paris Design Week, San Francisco Design Week, EDG Interior Architecture SF, Pierre Yves Rochon Paris, Architectural Digest Paris…
Currently, Mado is immersed in a new series of paintings titled ‘ Sand and Seaweed’.
